Langdon Tactical has re-engineered the 92 Series slide internals to now offer a low-profile optics-ready system for 92 Series pistols. You can purchase a complete pistol, or send in the slide from your current 92 Series for milling and customization:

No more bulky dovetail mounts or losing your rear iron sight for Beretta shooters who want to play in Carry Optics!

Man, that's sexy. And I bet it's accurate AF with the fixed barrel too.

Someone who is good at physics - would the lighter reciprocating slide mass of a 92 theoretically reduce the amount of wear and tear on the optic?

It all depends on slide speed.  Anyone claiming something one way or the other is FOS unless they show their calculations.

Yep, I'm a mechanical engineer........

Im FOS so I will play...
I am thinking it is not gonna matter. The mass of the slide is pretty irrelevant,  more the mass of the optic and the speed of the slide.
Slide speed is probably not directly related to slide mass. Spring rates, design, lock set up, firing pin retainer, slide to frame fit, heck probably type of lube gonna have an effect.

I Beretta slide unlocks different than a CZ slide. I 1911 firing pin stop can be shaped different ways to effect slide ..
I imagine a heavy slide is gonna be springed different than light slide.
So yeh,, if everything is identical slide speed would be related to mass, but everything ISNT identical in practical use.
Which is the point I was making to the op.
Lighter slide is most likely irrelevant to Optic wear, as there would be many other variables.

theres no hope for breathing new life into my 92fs

Actually there is:  buy a spare Vertec slide and send it to Langdon for the red dot cut.  I have spare slides for several of my 92 pistols, most frequently a G, but also Vertec so I can have different sights.  They've always worked 100%.

While you're at it, get a TJIAB for it.
