Calming the dot

I used to be the same way trying to get the dot to settle before shooting but it is just too slow. As stated above as soon as it in the A zone, pull the trigger straight back.

The dot sure does bring to light the lack of steadiness in my grip. When I first started shooting with the dot I found myself pushing and anticipating my shots. In a sense I was able to correct some things because it brought my flaws to light. Sure wish I didnt have this dang astigmatism though...

pull the trigger when the dot is somewhere on the A zone without worrying too much

 

if you miss, its either your trigger pull, or you transition too early

 

finally, dot need to be zeroed properly, and you have to think about height over bore issues for very small targets up close

I have different techniques for PCC vs. pistol and it varies based on CO and Open.

 

Dots will move, dance, etc - as people have said, accept it, don't try to 'beat' it.

 

PCC - if its well tuned the dot won't leave the A zone unless you're past 15 yards, even then, its marginal. If you have an AR set up, tweak springs, buffers, etc and you'll get a super fast return.

 

CO - is your dot returning to the same spot? If not, check your grip.
