seako_916 Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Ive noticed I start to get malfunctions at about 5k rounds. That tends to be my sign to clean. I just lube and keep shooting till then. Most my malfunctions seem to be extraction issues. I run the extractor dry and blow it out with compressed air and contact cleaner in-between teardown. Running brass I pick up and titegroup probably doesn't help. A cleaner powder and and better cases may help but it doesn't bother me enough to worry about it. Just a pain to throughly clean the extractor because I have to remove optic. It doesn't really move it seems (close enough) when I put it back on and check zero. Couple click at most to "re-zero".
hlsccsfa Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Practice S2 cleaned and lubed every month during match season (2 - 3k arounds), match gun is only for major matches and cleaned, lubed after every match. Never had any gun related malfunctions (ftf, fte, etc..)
RelentlessCL Posted October 23 Posted October 23 I ran my back-up Accu Shadow 2 for roughly 4,500-5,000 rounds of OutdoorDynamics Librarians and finally got enough build up on the trigger bar to tear down and clean. 0 FTF, FTE, etc. Maintenance cleaning & lubrication. Main Accu Shadow 2 stuck it out until about 6,000-6,500 rounds before I decided to clean/lube, again with 0 issues. Agree with HLSCCSFA, better safe than sorry, clean at least once a month or after each 1-2k rounds, all depending on the load/ammo you're running.
MattyG47 Posted November 18 Posted November 18 Depends on how much I am shooting, but at least every other week.
Artemis116 Posted November 18 Posted November 18 I usually deep clean every 3-4 thousand rounds, add lube if needed before each match
SV650Squid Posted November 22 Posted November 22 My homie has over 20k on his practice gun, no cleaning, no issues. Just keep it a bit wet. I rarely clean my practice gun also.
yigal Posted November 23 Posted November 23 I was servicing one of the club's TSO pistols. The owner of the gun didn't clean it for 10,000 rounds and only used factory ammo . The gun started to jam and some of the barrel lock was cut off. The decision to clean or not is a personal one. In my experience, you should clean your gun after every shooting practice. gun was fixed and shot after this 70k with no problems. because the owner clean it now.
MikeNS Posted November 27 Posted November 27 We’re supposed to be cleaning these things? I shoot too much for that!
Hollow-Point Posted November 30 Posted November 30 I clean after every practice or match.. easier to keep clean, then to let it get nasty and have to deep clean…. For me anyway…
IHAVEGAS Posted November 30 Posted November 30 Switched to carry optics this year and about one month after that I switched from using gun oil to slide glide grease to keep from getting oil flung on the optic. Am beginning to wonder if gunk build up was partly due to having oil get where it doesn't need to be and attract contaminants. Nothing conclusive, but even with me shooting very dirty titegroup I'm wondering if I will ever need to deep clean my CZs.
