Stock 2 LF 22 conversion

I have a Stock 2 large frame I use in CO.
Im looking for a 22lr conversion so I can use it in Steel Challenge but I can only find the small frame 22lr conversion online.

I've read the only major difference between L/S frame is the lower/grip area.
So, will the small frame slide conversion fit onto my large frame?
If it will, would I only have to buy large frame magazines?

thanks.

You need a Large Frame Slide for a Large Frame Tanfoglio. Unfortunately you can’t fit a Small Frame Slide on a Large Frame.

I have 1 for small frame, it is a pita to make reliable.  You need to use a heavy hammer spring too.

Damn. I just found one for a large frame and bought it. I’ll see what I can do with it.

The trick to getting it to cycle is 40gr high velocity ammo, 37gr doesn't work as well if at all.

As Maurice mentioned you may also get light strikes if you run a light hammer spring.

I have one I use in my S2. I can run standard velocity 40 grain ( I have lots). Federals ignite nice, Aquilla not so much needs a HEAVY hammer spring.

Lots of fun. Mine runs nice. Make sure it's lubed good and moves smooth.

I use a 14lb hammer spring.
In my gun the pull weight difference between a 10 and 14 was only .3 lb
I’d rather have reliable ignition than a slightly lighter pull.

@WarBoom, let me know how 14 lbs is working out for you. I just switched to 13 lbs on my small frame and have not shot it yet

had to use the factory spring to prevent light strikes.

I did my best to use the 14lb first.
I lengthen the firing pin stroke by .015 by cutting the shoulder

lengthen the set back by .020
removed the firing pin block

polished the rails and pin channel

swapped the pin spring with weaker

Best I could get was 8/10 fired with various ammo.
swapped to the factory and never had an issue. Shoots great.

Thank you guys for the info.  I have a 45/22 conversion that I finally have time to run the 22.  Everything is smoothed and polished and I am still getting the same light strike results as above, with the 14-15 lb hammer spring that I had in for the 45.  So, I will try the heaviest spring I have.  If that isn't 100% I will try the fp mods as above to increase momentum.

So I put the stock 45 hammer spring back in with the 22 conversion.  I think that spring must be about a 24lb.  Shot a few mags of the various ammo, cheap bulk, up to mini mag.  Everything went bang, no light strikes.  I was worried that the hammer might slow the cycle but everything fed.  So, confirmed those that said the hammer spring is the answer, at least on mine.
