Red dot zero distances

Reading this over, there seems to be lots of discussion as to what the "best" distance to zero your red dot at is. Some suggest doing it at 25 yards, while others say 10-15. I'm curious what people suggest for a zero distance and why?

In general, a closer distance zero will reduce the offset of the dot up close, on headshots.

 

I forget my exact zero, but it lets me hold exactly halfway between top A perforation and top of the head for a clean hit at 3 yards.

 

And it only hits 1/2inch low at 25 yards, which I genuinely couldn’t mind less.

 

Find a zero that balances those two concerns in a way that makes you happy.

Max Michel mentioned very specifically a 17 yard zero for his CO guns during one of his Instagram live sessions. 
As Memphis mentioned it’s a good compromise of offset up close, and at distance.
