new to 38sc loading

I have been a lurker here for a bit have done a bit of research and worked up a 38sc load for my CK Arms Thunder open gun. 3 popple and 2 port cheely ti comp. I just purchased the gun from a guy at my local range. It is a blast compared to my glock 19.5 carry optic I have been shooting in USPSA matches. I got 11 pounds of sr7625 with the gun. Current load is 7.1gn 7625, cci#500 primer, 125gn Rushmore coated .355 and 1.225 oal. Getting between 168 and 170pf. What would be a decent powder to get next that would work well with my setup since sr7625 is no longer produced?

Thanks

Please don't go to all the trouble/expense of picking up 38sc brass just to load something you could shoot out of a 9mm case.  38 has more case capacity, so use it!

N105, Shooters World Major Pistol, AA9, use 11+gr of powder and get that comp working 😈

I agree with ka.  You have gobs of case capacity, so make a lot of gas.  VV 3N38 is a loved 38SC powder and is the fastest I'd consider.  SWMP, AA7 and N105 would be next slowest.  You can go slower yet, but be aware there is such a thing as too much gas.  When excess gas starts jetting out the front of your comp, it increases recoil.

Personally I'd skip the 3N38 because of its speed and expense.  I'd start with AA7 and ladder up to 175PF.  If you fire at a white no shoot from 2" away and have little or no splatter around the bullet hole, try a slower powder and make another ladder.  When you start to see much splatter and residue on the board, back off a tad and call it done.

Great info, appreciate it! I will probably switch to aa7 once i get through all of this sr7625 I got with the gun. From my bit of research it is a medium to faster burn rate. I may try bumping it up to 175pf to see if i can get it to work the comp a bit more.

Thanks!

Why wait.  Buy a little AA7 now and experiment.  There will be a night and day difference.  After you try it you'll order 8 lbs. of AA7 and use the rest of your 7625 for minor.
