rorym Posted June 1, 2020 Share Posted June 1, 2020 Hi Guys, Old bloke..back after 30 years..plus..we had 170/175 PF in OZ in late 80s/90s....so looking at 160 PF here now is a God Send...Recently grabbed a near new STI DVC Open in 38 Super.(3900 rounds)..Yeah I read about broken comps..but if it breaks..just fix it is my motto. Problem. In OZ we are losing powders...locally ADI have had huge problems...Winchester recently stopped importing so Auto Comp is out. Research tells me I might have to look at Unique or Pistol Power by Alliant....I dont want to start back at this and have to change powders later and do it all over again. Question...Forums say that although the original P/Power produced a huge flash..there is a second stage released that wasnt so bad?...both are easy to source here now...(holding my breath).... Pills are 125gn coated cast.. Experiences?..or suggestions?..be aware that we dont have 3N37/8 or any VV powders here.....Blue Dot someone suggested?....Just looking for some direction. I think I got somewhere around 7.8 grains with a 115MG JHP, and the primers were getting pretty flat...and even with an 8lb spring, I had a single shot...and it was LOUD and FLASHY. I don't know if you have Longshot available, but it will work, and so will AA#7. The Longshot will be loud, but it will work the slide. AA#7 will be dirty, but it too will work the slide.
