VV for .40 Major load

new to limited major - assuming 180 coated and/or jacket, what is the preference for major PF out of the two VVs -  n310 or n320? I have stockpiles of n320 for 9mm minor, and a good bit of n310 also for a .45 load.

4.9 grains at 1.180-1.210 will get you between 165-170ish.

You're about to get hammered with "you should've searched other threads" posts in here. The BOC runneth plentiful at times [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]

N320 all the way

5.2 g oal 1.2 with Montana gold jhp

4.7 g oal 1.2 with blue bullets

both are soft and very accurate. This is all I use in 40.

N320 would be the majority over N310. Try Alliant Sport Pistol after you get low. I was a hardcore N320 fan boy but after trying a few lbs of Sport Pistol, I have switched everything 9mm and .40 over to it. Same product basically but a lot cheaper. May be a tad dirtier, but not until you shoot enough that you need to clean a tight 2011 anyways. Lol

I also like Sport Pistol.  Back to the original question.  I would definitely use the N320 for major and minor, but I wouldn't be opposed to using N310 for minor if that's all I had.  N310 is horribly temperature sensitive. So be careful if you shoot in Winter.  Your Summer load may not even run below freezing.

Out of my TSO’s I load 4.5gr of N320 at 1.165 with a 180gr coated bullet. 169-171 PF.

+1 for Alliant Sport pistol. After I run out of N320, I’ll be sticking to SP.

I run a SV 5.4 inch sight tracker with the AET hybrid barrel. I load 5.2 of 320 with a MG JHP 180 at 1.180 and get about 172 pf. Could back off the powder a little, but 320 doesn’t throw consistent enough out of a Dillon for me to trust it.

I noticed that too on my Dillon.

.3gr difference sometimes. I don’t care for that.

Interesting. N320 has been dead on for my Dillon and Mark7 measures.

The drop is accurate enough to produce Single digit standard deviations and extreme spreads of 40 or less. But sometimes it’s finicky with N320.

I must be lucky. n320 is what I mostly load, and I've been within .1 gr every time I've tested (other than first few drops of  a session).

Same with SP. The only ones I've had trouble with in my Dillion are  the really fine ones like AA 1680 for rifle.
