Spring Tester

Do you have a postal scale? Tare the rod spring and plug, assemble and push down the spring until the plug hits the guide rod. This will give you a very accurate reading.

This way is much better than using my pull gauge.

I got mine as a Christmas gift from my Daughter from the first link.  Works pretty well.  I had about 10 Wolff springs in a drawer and couldn't tell which was which.

I tried the Brownells gauge.  I could not get the same reading on the same spring on subsequent tries.  It went back.  I'll try zomby's method.  It should work fine.

Excellent idea, had a scale sitting on my bench, works great!
