Charlestiller
I’m in the market for another 1911 for EDC. I want something in .45ACP. My budget is around $1200-$1400. In this price range is the SA TRP Operator pretty much the best option or is there a comparable option that I’m not thinking of? Seems like everything is just below it in the $800-$1000 range, or WAY out of my price range higher. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

perttime
Do you want the rail of the TRP Operator? For EDC, I'd consider a Commander size pistol.
p7fl
One of my 2 favorite all time daily carries is a Colt Gunsite 1911 CCO. It is a 45 with an officers grip and commander slide. Lightweight. Charlestiller
Do you want the rail of the TRP Operator? For EDC, I'd consider a Commander size pistol.I would prefer something with a rail. I’m used to having a WML on my pistols both at work and on my EDC. I’m a cop, so I’m used to having a lot of gear and weight on my hips so I don’t mind the weight of a government sized 1911 with a light on it. I have started looking at the Dan Wesson’s and if Buds would get it back in stock I really like the specialist in SS.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

RangerTrace
If you could use a 9mm rather than the .45, I'd say look at the Stacatto C or C2.

Postal Bob
Look at the Springfield RO Elites. In that price range. They have great triggers and use a flat wire recoil spting which seems to reduce felt recoil.

Is there a significant difference in any to make one better that the other for carry? I can’t image that there is. At least not at my skill level.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

45 Raven
Another vote for the Dan Wesson Guardian for EDC. I have one in .45 and one in 9mm. Dead nuts reliable, and easy to carry and conceal.
Charlestiller
You guys have really got me looking at the Dan Wesson pistols. I really like the look of the guardian, but I think it’s pretty much between the TRP Operator and the DW Specialist. To be honest it will probably come down to which pistol I can find first for a decent price and in stock. I’m currently carrying a S&W E-Series, 5” railed. It is really nice, but you can’t have too many quality pistols. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
jcc7x7
Go Dan Wesson I own 4-5 Springfield's but all have had extensive mods and parts upgrades , especially ignition sets. Only thing the DW's get is mawell's on the competition guns and some light blending if needed which isn't usual
Bruce
Sub $1400 budget I went with Springfield Armory RO and a fedex box to Matt McLearn at McLearn Custom Guns in Ohio...for myself and and as gifts to a couple of close LE friends. With that said, I have Dan Wesson pistols and I like them. I still send them to Matt for some touches here and there, but they are good pistols out of the box. Very consistent build quality in the 10-12 I have shot and the couple I have owned. Enjoy the hunt and good luck finding what you want!
Charlestiller
Thanks for being patient with me guys. What do you guys think about maybe saving some money and purchasing one of theses guns. Would I be just as happy or would I end up with buyers remorse?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hany
With Dan Wesson, I ordered direct from them on Dept. Letterhead. This was 5-6 years ago, I think I got it in a month or so. It was a solid pistol, if you want hicap, Im notnseeing anything better in the "under 2k range" than a Staccato...as Trace said...but If I was in the market for an single stack carry pistol in .45, DW is a solid pick. Charlestiller
Found a good deal on a used TRP on gunbroker. Just thought I would let everybody know what I ended up with. Been carrying it for a few days not in a 1791 leather holster. Love it!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
