CzViper
So what is it good for? Have a 1lb of Power Pistol and plenty of bullets in 9mm, 40 S&W, 38 special, and 45 acp. Which caliber listed (if any) is it better suited for and what are some of Power Pistols strengths and weaknesses? BJB
Power Pistol is designed for high performance loads. It'll get you up there to the top of the envelope for a particular caliber, particularly 9mm, .40S&W, & 10mm. It's not really designed with lite loads in mind. However, Alliant has load data listed for a wide selection of calibers, from .32 auto up to .500 S&W Mag. Downside, other than it's not the best for lite loads, is that it has a loud blast & large fireball.
BJB
It'll run those calibers you mentioned just fine though.
dapribek
Used Power Pistol for 40 and 45 for minor and major loads for years. Great powder, no problems. Friends always enjoyed the muzzle fireworks!
Yeti
Works great for fast loads in all of the calibers already mentioned. Also good for revolver loads below Blue Dot/2400 full house magnum territory. The shock & awe effect is definitely interesting, but not always wanted. CzViper
Might start with 45 acp and work my way down the calibers. Anyone have a good starting point for 230 RN plated bullets? Reading mixed results. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
edison
I've read power pistol with a 115gr HAP going 1200fps is the goto bullseye load.
valerko
for what it's worth , I found data on Allient website little hot . I usually start 15% lower and work my way up.
12glocks
I used to use it for 9 and 40 before switching to N320 or Sport Pistol. It is loud and quite accurate. There are published +P recipes for 9 and 45 and maybe 38 as I recall. It will be fine for all the calibers you listed.
donno
I use Power Pistol for 9 minor -hot (145-150 pf) and 9 major. I really like it. Produces a lot of gas.
NateTSU
Power Pistol has worked well for me. I have loaded it most for a PCC with 125gr bullets, very accurate and plenty of gas for the comp. I have also loaded a 9+p load with a 115gr bullet for hard set steel and poppers calibrated for shotguns at multigun matches.
