When you get a new holster........

So, last fall I was shooting USPSA with my sig X5. Liminted Minor - Yeah i know.... I like a challenge.

Anyways, I had just gotten a new holster from my holster buddy. I've used his holsters for a while. Just needed a new one to accomdate the match weight and *thumb rest [generic]* setup.

Well, first stage I draw from holster, fire first shot, magazine falls to ground. I just stood there like WTF!!!!! Then finally reloaded and finished the course. Turns out the new holster had a defect in it and when gun was inserted / removed from holster the mag relase button was being brushed just hard enough to relase the mag.....

Dremel tool to the rescue but the lesson here is test any new gear before the competition.

Yep !

I thought I was the only doofus that did that. I installed an extended mag release on a P320 and dropped the mag on the first shot out of the holster 3 stages in a row , before I figured that out. I was a bit new, and kept thinking I was screwing up the grip on the draw.

3 min with the Dermel was all it took.

Good times, good times........

Happened at my first USPSA match. I had put a Dawson mag release and button on my new STI. My holster just arrived two days before the match. First two stages, mag dropped because release button was pushing against holster. An experienced RO noticed it on the second stage and we went to the safe area after unloading all magazines and figured it out. Pocket knife temporary fix followed by Dremel after the match.

Same thing happened with a brand new DOH holster. Depending on the way I drew my gun, the holster would hit my mag release. Luckily I found out early on in dry fire and Mr. Dremel took care of it.
