old558
Thinking of possibly getting one and was wondering if it good to go for Carry Optics?
davsco
don't think so in uspsa as guns must generally be production legal (and striker or sa/da). of course, could always run it in Open. in idpa they should be legal as esp (incl single action) guns can be used. avastcosmicarena
2011s with SAO triggers aren't allowed in Carry Optics. If they were, everyone would be using them, because the trigger would be a pretty big advantage.
p7fl
I am in the same boat, I WANT a new STI, but there is no reasonable division to shoot it in. It would be a dedicated EDC not an EDC that i can compete with. I have considered Ltd Minor but.....
old558
Thanks for the reply's. I mostly shoot steel challenge in revolver. I do have an x5 for carry optics, and do not see much difference (X5 or Staccato) in what they were designed for. It's winter and I'm in MN, witch means I bored and looking for something to play with. Edited January 11, 2020 by old558

I'm shooting one in IDPA Carry Optics and I love it. It's solved my problem of not being able to focus on the front sight during indoor matches. I don't shoot enough USPSA these days to matter. I will probably end up with one if they show up in my neighborhood. I can always shoot it in outlaw steel. Can you tell me, does she shoot pretty flat, and transition well. I would like the XC but that is a huge jump in price for me.
RangerTrace
Its a fairly heavy pistol for 9 minor, so yes it's pretty flat.

avastcosmicarena
You might also want to consider the new Dan Wesson DWX (comes in both full size and compact) that's coming out soon.

It’s their Open. My PPQ with a milled-to-hell slide is legal there! It’s still IDPA though, so I’ve only done it once.

Hi, how is it legal in IDPA though with the 4.4 inch bull barrel? That stupid rule kills all the fun guns in my experience.

hitman_usmc
Any update on this? Any solid info about the 4.4" P DUO being legal? What about a C2 DUO?
RangerTrace
NOthing has changed. You can have a bushing barrel fit to the new 4.45" gun and be just fine.

Kletus
I know this is reviving an old thread, but recent relevant "rules changes" (but not really?) allow pretty much any pistol that fits in the box and makes weight as long as it isn't compensated or has an extended mag release. https://www.idpa.com/message-from-racl-rick-lund/?fbclid=IwAR0kLc-3PfOvs6FX86rx5twimUvLH3jhuKbmLppQXN75DpdhRp_KMhZXAB4
Bakerjd
You can have a extended mag release in IDPA. just can't be to long or have a oversized button on it.
