Bmans45
Any suggestions on a go pro hat type mount ? What works best ? Where is the best place to get one ?
SV650Squid
I use a gopro session. Here's my mount setup Geissele hat I got as swag from buying stuff from them A chinese tripod mount off amazon a fender washer and a bolt. Drill a hole in the bill of your hat, and bolt it on. Like I said, I have a session, and it's much lighter than a standard gopro. I don't know if it will make the bill too floppy with a fullsize gopro. I want to say the whole setup cost me less than $10.
George16
This one works well. The holder is already embedded into the hat and really keeps the camera in place. https://www.amazon.com/Smatree-Baseball-Release-Session-58-60cm/dp/B019Q8DH5Q/ref=pd_sbs_421_4/137-2699205-4789431?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B019Q8DH5Q&pd_rd_r=767ca17b-2538-4f6f-a1bd-8d2554fe07ac&pd_rd_w=UMy1M&pd_rd_wg=vQxlV&pf_rd_p=5873ae95-9063-4a23-9b7e-eafa738c2269&pf_rd_r=VWQY5CNAVPN53JH0548K&psc=1&refRID=VWQY5CNAVPN53JH0548K
davsco
i have the gopro hero (small cube) and it came with a few mounting brackets. i drilled and bolted the lowest one to the bill on my cap, at the rear of the bill for more stability. zero issues with it. i also have the sony action cam and zip tied one of the mounts to the top of my earmuffs band. that works great also but sitting up higher i've smacked it a few times on props, low-hanging tents etc.
Sprig
On a hat i use the head strap with the center strap removed. Fast , easy to take on and off .This way am not walking around with the cam on all day, slip it on before coming up to shoot, when done toss it in the rang bag . Sprig
If get one of the kits , will have about everything you can think of to try, and are cheap . https://www.amazon.com/s?k=gopro+accessories+kit&crid=2KJRBPFH59W23&sprefix=go+pro+acc%2Caps%2C339&ref=nb_sb_ss_sc_4_10
eboadway
Use a tripod mount, drill a hole in the visor near the hat and mount it. Less mass way up high, although a bit front-heavy.
Malarky112
I use the same hat as shown above. I did throw a few stands of thread in there to hold it a little better.
Archangelgt
I don't know if you can find them still, but Sidekick made one of the better hat mounting solutions. You do need to use a hat that has a velcro patch on the front, but there are plenty of them out there. Might be able to find them via Google and Ebay. A couple of my friends have been running the version for the Hero Session, and haven't had any problems with them. SwedishMoose
Amarok Tactical sells them for $8 actually and they're pretty low profile and effective.

Same. Looks like a nice stable option but I don’t see them available anywhere. Looks like it may have been a kickstarter project?

valerko
I use Tachyon and have dedicated hat with mount screwed to bill of the hat . Top of the hat produces weird video and if you shoot thru the ports ,it shows just a wall
