How many cans of non-chlorinated brake cleaner can you get for the price of the steam unit? The steam method sounds nice, but the brake cleaner method works really well and its fast. Just don't get it on grip tape if you use it. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk Im sure the payback on the steam unit is much longer. Im not in this for the most cost effective solution Edited September 2, 2019 by Smithcity
ClayBuster
I blast mine with non chlorinated brake cleaner and add some more oil. Been doing it for as long as I can remember. Edited September 2, 2019 by ClayBuster

I break the gun down, soak it in mineral spirits for a hour, scrub off anything that didnt dissolve, once dry, i oil and reassemble. Regardless, my method or the ultrasonic method, i always seem to need some amount of scrubbing. If the dry vapor method eliminates a scrubbing step, im intrigued. He has a much older version of this one. Not sure what model.
ultimase
If he's been doing it for a while and hasn't had any adverse affects, that kinda speaks for itself. There's so many different ways to clean honestly if there was a way that was dangerous of completely ineffective we'd likely know about it by now.
