Turn it on once you are in the hole and turn off after you are done shooting and are back at your bag. If you have it on 4-5 times per match for lets say 5 min each time and a match is 3-3.5 hrs, that is a about 10% of the time. You would be leaving it on 90% of the time for no reason except to kill batteries. It takes 1 sec to turn it on and off. But we are all free to do as we wish.
