Badger663
I have had an MPX PCC for about 3 months and I had 3 stages this weekend with FTE issues and 1 each match the 2 matches prior to this one. Does anyone have a fix for this or is it common after about 4k rds to change out the springs or buy a new extractor? Link to comment

Does anyone have a fix for this or is it common after about 4k rds to change out the springs or buy a new extractor?I’ve got earlier Gen 2 MPXs and have had some issues with FTEs. Things I’ve done to try to fix it...new extractor, frequently changing the extractor spring and insert, stronger mag springs and finally bumping my load to about 140 PF. The little donut under the extractor of later gen 2 MPXs also helps. Be sure to kEep the gas system clean and run it dry. If I had to point to one thing that seems to have had the most benefit it would be increasing the powder charge in my load. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Link to comment
George16
I agree with the increasing of powder charge. For the extractor, you can either buy the extractor spring kit which has the spring, oring and rubber insert from sig. this is the same extractor spring kit they use on the new MPX Competition model. Or you can also buy the BCM extractor spring upgrade kit which has the same items for a fraction of the amount. Of course, always keep it clean especially the gas plug. Link to comment

Have you heard anything about In Lead We Trusts custom extractor? My mag springs are all new and I dont keep them loaded at any time except the match every week for a few hours. I've got Berry State Championship this weekend and cant afford any problems. Do you think if I get a spring it should tide me over for the match at least? Link to comment
TeedOff
I have the extractor from ILWT. I really think the extractor spring and donut are more important than the extractor itself. I’d suggest checking chrono and getting your load around 138-140 power factor. I think that is what has helped me the most. I had a lot of rounds on my mags which is why I changed mag springs. Some of the failures I saw were two rounds trying to get into the chamber so my theory was a weak spring on the +10 was causing it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Link to comment
ck1
Watching this thread... I’ve had and witnessed a bunch of issues with the older MPX’s, but picked up the latest 3rd Gen 16”, and through its first 1500rds, thus far it’s been flawless without any cleaning and just a little FP-10 on the bolt between range trips at like maybe 500rd intervals... was beginning to think Sig finally has it dialed with the few changes they made... I’ve been feeding it 50/50 with Tula 115gr crap and super-soft shooting Syntech PCC 130gr stuff... We’ll see if any issues pop up as I put more rounds on it..? Link to comment

I roll my own at about 140 power factor which works great in my gen 2s. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Link to comment

That said, the Syntech PCC 130gr stuff is just laughs... it’s like toy Nerf gun stuff through the MPX, it might actually be too soft, but super fun, hahaha... Acer2428
I would say 90% of the time when I see FTE MPX threads it's a hand-loader using TG and/or heavier bullets. If you insist on using TG (I'm cheap too) I'd drop your bullet weight and up the charge. If you have more invested in 135's, I'd move to slightly slower burning powder (sport pistol, etc). If this isn't 100% your issue it will still give you a much wider operating window to avoid mid-match issues. For reference I run a 124gr. everglades JHP over 3.4-3.5 grains of clays in a Gen 1 (wider gas port). I had 16 lbs of the stuff from my shotshell reloading days.
