cleaning up a nickel plated revolver

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I just picked up a very dirty nickel plated revolver. I tried to clean it with #9 but the carbon just laughed at me. Does any one have a good cleaner that will get rid of the black and still leave the nicke l? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Tim

Don't leave the hoppe's on it. Does weird things to nickle.

Try some of the clp stuff or the ar15 carbon cleaners.

Again do not let the product soak on it. May eat the finish

I have not tried it on nickel revolvers/pistols, but there is an automotive cleaner/was called Never Dull.  It's in a round silver can.  It cleans rust off glass, most of the rust of chrome bumpers bicycle rims, cleans brake dust off chrome and painted automotive rims/wheels, etc.

Pull off a small piece and rub it on the surface till you get the crud cleaned off.  The residue will dry to a hazy look.  Just grab a clean dry cloth and wipe the hazy look away.

Again, never tried it on nickel, so read on the label on the can prior to using it on a nickeled pistol.  Good luck.
