Inverted Cases on 650 Case Feeder

My worst stoppage problem on my 650 is that about 3 times in 500 rounds a case is fed primer up.  I see it most of the time.  But correcting is annoying.  What are likely causes and how do I fix it?

You might be putting in too much brass into the casefeeder, or you're running your casefeeder on high.  According to Dillon, the most you should put into your casfeeder is a quart sized amount of brass and run the casefeeder on low for pistol.

Moving casefeeder on the up stroke and down stroke.. Find a way to bolt down the casefeeder to a wall if you have one near you.. I'll upload a pix later to show how I fixed that problem.. No more upside down cases.

I have never experienced that. At least 150k rounds. I usually only put in a few big handfuls at a time, so perhaps “Stick” has the answer.

I run 2 cups of 9mm brass at a time.  I haven't looked at whether speed makes a difference.

Anchor the casefeeder to the wall. It's moving too much

And if your bench isn’t screwed into the wall you need to do this first. I promise you my bench was sturdier than yours: 250lbs... and built with 4x4s for the beams with a 1.5” thick top.

 

Lagging it into the studs still made a huge difference.

The only time I've had this issue, there was a brass stuck under the feed plate making it ride high.

Buy a bullet feeder .

Since I got one my left hand grips the case feeder and keeps it stable and that eliminated brass flipping from too much wobble. Not perfect still, but almost perfect.

I agree with having to many cases or too much wobble will cause cases to be upside down more often. 

 

Also, if you ever have cases jam up near where they drop down, watch the video below. Its a simple, cheap, easy fix, but I've never had a single jam since adding those pieces of plastic (a curved piece of a ziploc cup or plastic cup works great to get the curve).
