11MM
PSA: Saw a Glock Gen 5 today that has been carried for a few short months in a Kydex holster and the finish was really rough! The new finish does not like Kydex and I was told the Gen 5 slides are a bit wider as well, though I have not measured one. Have any of you seen the same? OdinIII
Mine is holding up as good as my Gen3’s.
tha1000
I have a gen 5 with about 12,000 rounds on it and all the dry fire and a gen 5 with less than 1000 rounds on it. I had to mark them to tell them apart. My experience with gen 5 finish is that its one of the more durable finishes I've encountered.
JBP55
No issues with any of my Gen 5 Glocks but I use the proper holsters made by Silk Custom Kydex.
11MM
The wear on the finish was on the corners and from the Kydex, not shooting it or by handling. What ever Kydex holster that was used was very unforgiving on the finish.
tha1000
I use Bladetech kydex I’m guessing it was an issue with your friends choice of holsterand not an issue with glocks choice of finish.
11MM
That very well could be. I wonder why/how one Kydex is rougher on finishes than another?
Paul49
Maybe the tightness of the “mouth” of the holster or even the angle of the material might change the dynamics of friction and rubbing on the muzzle end of the slide with each insertion??
