Jonesjohnm
I’ve been handling Glock 34s trying to determine which to buy. I really like the Gen 3 model. Any opinions? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Chrisyoung
I prefer gen 4 glock they have a larger magazine release and the back strap option. With a 34 I dont see a advantage to buying a gen 3.
Zoomie517
I’m shooting a Gen5 34. 1st series. Lefty so it matters to me. Do not underestimate that cavernous magazine port
Amerflyer48
Currently shoot a Gen4 but looking hard at a Gen5 because of aforementioned cavernous mag well since I shoot production. I do practice Burkett Reloads until my eyes bleed but it is nice to have more if a well for those not so coordinated kind of days Edited July 7, 2019 by Amerflyer48

dtuns
Two weekends ago I watch a cop DQ himself for breaking the 180 during a reload then be a dick about it. Yammering about how his swat training made him reload the way he did and then loudly announcing that since couldn't shoot he was leaving. I don't think he will be missed.........So what gen glock made him do that? LolSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Amerflyer48
Probably one of those Glock 7's I keep hearing about... think he meant it to go one line lower, check post below in the main subforum: I went ahead and got DQ'd today

11MM
FUnny story about the police officer.... Blame it on the high-speed SWAT training. Having a Gen 5 Model 17, I would have to give the Gen 5's a look.
tdp88
I'd take a look at a Gen 5 but only if it doesn't have the cut out on the front of the grip.
OdinIII
I'd take a look at a Gen 5 but only if it doesn't have the cut out on the front of the grip. My G34 has the cutout. I think it’s not much of a big deal on a full size. I wouldn’t sweat buying a used pistol with the cutout if the opportunity presented itself.I would not want it on a compact at all at any price. YMMV. Well maybe for two fifty I’d deal with it.
AZ1911
I love the Gen 5 G34. I had both a Gen 3 and Gen 4 34 but got rid of both of them in favor of buying 2 Gen 5's.

Sparky
I prefer the Gen 3 and yes I like the finger grooves. I'm a Viet Nam Veteran and a 40 year retired cop and have shot USPSA or whatever it was called back then since 1979.. The cop that DQed was partially correct. LE training does not focus on safety as much as it should. It focuses on ending the threat and staying alive. He was probably embarrassed and who wouldn't be. But, to make a smart ass remark about how he wouldn't be missed is uncalled for. We are a sport about supporting and helping each other.

If i have to restart my practical shooting life all over again. I would stick with one maker, one model and a boat load of reloading components. MFM22
Got a gen 5 mos / FS, last week - took a range session or 2 to get used to it - we're getting along very well so far Can't see any advantage in the previous generations.. gen 5 are supposed to have better triggers , better barrels , mos , FS , & probably other features I'm not aware of I thought they didn't have the notch in mag well any more but it's there - are there plugs for it ? Armedinmd
I've only shot a Gen 3 and it was a nice shooter without any reported problems.
McAllyn
I ran a Gen3 for several years and loved every minute of it. Now that I’m starting over from square 1, I went with Gen 4 MOS only because I prefer the finger grooves.

I thought they stopped as well. I bought mine a year ago and there was no notch, maybe you got one of the first runs that was still sitting in their inventory?
