TimHawkins
Hello, I would like to load some precision delta 124 jhp that will work in all my 9mm guns (sti, glock, sig, springfield, cz, h&k, and Kimber) and need some help with the best oal to use for all these pistols. Thanks, Tim
Hi-Power Jack
Only YOU can answer that …. You really have to run The Plunk Test, with that bullet, in all seven of your guns, and take the shortest. Then, you have to see if that short round shoots well in all seven guns. You might be well served with different OAL's for different guns - hard to tell without testing them. BUT, that's the fun of reloading.
Ssanders224
Precision Delta Factory loaded 9mm JHP is loaded to 1.10. This has proven to be a very universal length with PD 124 JHPs.
EEH
Load to factory specs.
Darrell
As said earlier PD load to 1.100, but in my testing I got better accuracy at 1.080". I have shot at that length for years and this is my goto bullet. Works in all my guns from 1911's to short chambered CZ's. Do a search for my name and you should see a spreadsheet with all my loadings.
TimHawkins
Thanks for the replies. I just want to load some stuff for plinking and can be used in all the guns. For my competition guns I load long and it won't work in some of the pistols. When the kids want to shoot, they want to try all the guns and it gets to be a pain figuring out which ammo fits what gun and I'm hoping to find a length that will work in them all and it will simplify things. Thanks again for the info and I'll try some at 1.100 and see how it works. Tim

I have been loading 38, never 9mm I have Vn 320 and Vn330 with Win231 Bullseye and Trail Boss. Thanks
Hi-Power Jack
The N320 is The Classic load for 9mm minor. Seem to recall that Darrell thought the N330 was the most accurate ?? Might be wrong there. I have used WW231 for decades and think it's a great powder for 9mm and .45. As Darrell said, search for Darrell and you'll find the answer to your question. You might want to provide a little more info re: your request. What's your intended use of the powder ? USPSA ? Steel ? What velocity are you looking for ? etc
SlappyMcTrigger
After reading several threads on this exact same topic I loaded some JHP test rounds last night at 1.09” for a shadow 2. Raining today and the wife is celebrating another trip around the sun but I’ll report back hopefully tomorrow. I did test PD’s 124 -FMJ earlier and here’s what I got. Was in the 60’s and COAL was just under 1.13”. Didn’t plug in the 4gr load since this was closer to my goal of 132-135 pf. The “TG” is titegroup. SlappyMcTrigger
Here is the info from today. 68° and overcast. Perfect day really. COAL was just shy of 1.10”. Didn’t weigh these and just put in 124 so the pf could be a little off. Accuracy was as good as I can shoot (not much of a bullseye guy hence my screen name). Shot out of the same shadow 2 from above. 124 PD- JHP 3.75 gr. Found your spreadsheet a few weeks ago and used your data as a starting point. Just wanted to say thanks, bud.

It's a start but not definitive per se. You still have to do your own homework, plunk test, chrono, barrel length velocity numbers to see if you're even making PF. Factory specs is a start though, but I highly suggest you do your personal homework and testing prior to using your ammo... Just my 2 cts! ahfox32
I've shot thousands of the PD JHP and this is the only bullet I load. Great company and product. Mine are loaded to 1.10 and shoot flat/accurate in my Tanfos. May try the 1.08 next time I load some.
slodsm
I ran thousands of these through a g17 with a CMC barrel, a g34 with a stock barrel, and an STI Trojan single stack with a stock barrel. I loaded them to 1.100 with win231 and cci500’s and they shot very well and fed in everything with no issues. Last time I needed bullets they were back ordered and I ended up buying a crap ton from Everglades ammo instead but I’d they don’t work as well, I’ll just pay more attention to PD and not let my stash get so low when they’re in stock.
