Trimming down mag springs

Recommended Posts

I have a bunch of 10rd glock mags, being that I’m from CT and we have dumb gun laws.

I have a handful of STANDARD capacity mags and it finally dawned on me that reloads went much better with the 17 rounders loaded to ten than the 10rd mags.

The 10 rounders springs are so damn tight that you really have to slam that mag in to mag sure it catches.

Anyone cut one down to alleviate this issue, while obviously keeping the mag reliable?

Often it's easier to start with taking an 1/8" or so off the bottom of the follower.

That will allow a little room in the mag.

Then cut a half a coil at a time and do some dryfire reloads with full mags until you find the sweet spot.

Then of course live fire the mag for reliability , also do one mag at first to make sure your process works
