johnsonian85
Looking for some insight on how well aluminum magwells hold up, do they wear out or get all gouged up? I just switched away from Dawson and the steel magwell is pretty heavy with a metal grip.
motosapiens
I practice a few minutes of reloads every day, and I find that my aluminum magwells get pretty beat up within a year. I'm a grown man, so I can still lift a gun with a metal grip and steel magwell. Heck, my 5-3" wife can lift hers too.
johnsonian85
But it's heavy... My current one is steel and it's fine, but on the next build I was thinking of trying aluminum. If it's only going to last a year, I'll just stick with steel.
JAF1680
They get dinged up a little over time but they aren't hard to clean up or have re coated.

Walther SIG and CZ are tripping over each other to figure out how portly they can get Production division guns, and you’re over here trying to strip weight off of yours! tha1000
They gouge pretty easily, can be cleaned up with sand paper if you care...
andrewtac
They get gouged up. I would bet they are easier, slightly, on mags than steel magwells.
