Mike Kemerer AFSOC

Recommended Posts

Just got this notice from an Air Force Special Ops Facebook page:

"Fellow warriors, we lost a legendary SOF warrior, Michael J. Kemerer, on 2 April from complications involving two strokes.

The SOF community is holding a ‘Celebration of Life’ at the Hurlburt Field Chapel on 1 May at 1300L to honor Mike. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mike’s preferred charities: Paralyzed Veterans of America, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, or St Judes Children’s Hospital.
Mike’s family is hosting a reception for friends immediately following at Hurlburt’s Soundside Club from 1430-1700. Please join us as we send our brave SOF warrior off to Valhalla."

I dealt with this guy on and off for the last 15 years. He was one of the few AF active duty officers where you could expect zero bulls#!t. He was an Electronic Warfare Officer (EWO) and thus most of the stuff he did was classified. One of his accomplishments was leading the effort to assemble the Electronic Order of Battle (EOB) for Desert Storm. The EOB is the database that contains all the known (and estimated) locations, characteristics, etc of the air defenses in theater. Mikey and a couple other guys got some old hardcopy intel from the archives and using various sources to create a detailed picture of the air defense systems of Iraq. The work was classified but if you are old enough, you saw the results on CNN.

RIP Mikey...
