1911 40 S&W recoil spring weight

At the risk of getting yelled at for not checking the threads, I am going to ask if anyone could give me a starting recoil spring weight for a 1911 in 40 S&W. This is a new build (1st in this caliber).

 

P.S I did do a search and came up empty

if your slide weight is 10 ounces then go down to a 10 or 11 pound spring

I ask the same question not long ago . I settled on a 12 lb spring  Get an 11, 12,  and 13 and try each one and see what feels best for you .

I’m running a 13lbs recoil spring in mine.

I'm running a 14 recoil and 18 main combo..  I tend to like it.  Whatever you do just pick one and stick with it
