IGOTGLOCKED Posted April 7, 2019 Share Posted April 7, 2019 Deciding I would reload & shoot the 45 more I bought the G30, love it, and shoot it well however owning a 10mm is driving me crazy! Someone mentioned I should be able to convert my G30 to a 10mm? The frame appears to be the same as the G29 (10mm). Is this true and is it safe to do so? If so what parts do I need? DeweyH Posted April 8, 2019 Share Posted April 8, 2019 10mm is awesome in the small guns. The frames for the G30 and G29 are the same, I often put my g29 upper on my 30SF frame. There are a couple of ways of doing it. Buy a G29 upper or just add an aftermarket conversion barrel. Not sure how easy a complete upper is to find but that is the best option. I did quite a bit of research on the barrel a while back and there are plenty of mixed reviews on the barrel only solution. Some people suggest swapping the extractor as well. If you have a G30s though, the barrel only solution will not work. I found out after buying a barrel. Not quite enough research apparently. I ended up buying back a G29. Gen 3 uppers should also work on gen 4 frames, but not the other way. If you are looking for carrying the 10, I think the upper would be the better option. Also check out Underwood ammo. From my G29, I get 1175 fps from their 180 gold dot load. Hey DH, Cannot find an upper anywhere... Did find a Storm Lake Conversion barrel and of course mags. So I called my gunsmith and he said he just could not imagine that would not work. It would be an $200 experiment however just really don't want to spend $650 +/- on a G20 or g40 right now...
