Physically preparing for 2-Gun Matches

Recommended Posts

Are you referring to a Run & Gun? ....or simply a 2-gun match?

For a 2-gun match there would be no more physical preparation than what you would usually do for USPSA or 3-gun, etc.

For a Run & Gun, yeah, there is a lot more physical preparation.

Agreed.

I would assume 2Gun is just normal rifle/pistol and it will be in a standard competition format.  Think of it more like football versus a marathon run.  You have short spurts of activity multiple times instead of a consistent pace (with an added potty break or shooting portion).

Your run of the mill 2-gun match is no more than a USPA match with some extra transitions and skills tested.  Quick in - quick out still rules the day really.  There are some varieties like He-Man matches that really test you physically but those are not the norm.

I would say you are doing everything right gym wise, may want to focus on dumping / retrieving your rifle from a trash can or from a table, also sling work depending on your Club rules.
