Dasupabeast
Time and money mostly. But I have been searching the webs recently for competitions going now that the weather is nicer. Any advice for me?

herky
Lots of good matches and people on your side of the state. Brighton, Romulus, and Shelby Township. Also try uspsa.org and the club finder for other USPSA matches. Most of these clubs also have IDPA matches.
PlayFront36
Best advice is to just jump in and shoot any match. Just dip your toe in the water. That should seal the deal! Youll be hooked.
elguapo
20 hours ago, Dasupabeast said: Time and money mostly Well yeah, that's an issue for most of us....LOL If you have a serviceable full size semi auto, a couple of magazines and mag pouches, an OWB holster, and a decent gun belt (not necessarily a HSLD competition belt) you're 90% of the way there gear wise. To shoot in USPSA Production you should also have somewhere between five and seven magazines and between four and six mag pouches for your belt. So you probably don't need to sink as much money as you might think.
Kraj
The Section puts out a list of uspsa/idpa clubs every year. Most clubs start up in April but i would look up their website and get confirmation that matches are actually taking place before you head out early in the year. Every year at the start of the year there is a ton of new shooters, dont worry about being the only one. http://nebula.wsimg.com/cd6b4882ddc9898ed815f55cc5f3a0fa?AccessKeyId=D4F86D57480F6DA60945&disposition=0&alloworigin=
Dasupabeast
I have a G34 I've been shooting as much as can afford. I have 4 mags currently and I can get more. A cheap holster, mag pouches and a belt is doable. I'll study that link later tonight. Thanks for all the advice fellas.

Dasupabeast
I've never shot steel. Just paper at indoor and outdoor ranges. It does look like fun though.
