SP-01 Shadow poor accuracy

So I got this gun a couple years ago, never really shot it i had other things to play with. I started playing with it a few months ago and it’s the shittiest shooting gun I’ve ever shot.  I love the way it feels, recoils and the overall handling of it but it will not group.  The factory target looks good but there’s no way that was shot with this gun, 4 different shooters at 25 yards and it prints 6-8” high and looks like a shotgun pattern.

I fixed the sights and now it’s closer but good god a great group for this guy is 3” at 10 yards rested off a bench.  I’ve tried at least 10 different factory loads including the S&B listed on the target and no less that 30 different powder/bullet/primer combos, I tried the CGW 10x bushing that was a waste of money.

I have this beat to crap surplus CZ compact that will chew the X out of a target at 15 yards with damn near anything I put through it, I know it’s not me, my TAC II is one of my favorite pistols and it’s a freaking laser beam when I shoot it.

What do I do next, anything else to look at?

how much play is there in the barrel lockup at the breech face? what are the conditions for group shooting (sand bag, bench rest, ransom test)? double action vs single action shooting? have others tried group shooting?

Was it a new purchase? if not, how many rounds at purchase time?

I found the CZ barrels to be sized badly for 9mm. For my SP-01 my first barrel was defective. It actually was wider in the middle (like as bubble) and when I slugged it, the bullet freely rattled inside the middle of the rifled section. They replaced it, of course. For that barrel and two others I have, they slugged at 0.3555. 9mm should be 0.354. I run Ibejiheads 0.357 bullets and that solved all the issues I've had, including leading when using the usual 0.356 heads that you would normally use.

During lockup is the fit upper/frame fit loose.
I have the same issue.
My gun was a tack drive.
Barrel good.
But now my fit for some reason is poor.
I need Stuart to look at it.

Those are some big groups yicks.

How is barrel to bullet fit. Like said above your bore is more than likely .3555 so .357 would be best in lead but .355 would probably be ok in copper bullets.

If that doesnt fix it I would install a cgw 10x bushing and/or a different barrel.

I emailed CZ yesterday, Their reply was it's a CZ Custom problem 😂.  I'll see what they say.

I'll look at the lock up tonight when I get home, I'm hoping it just needs a new barrel and CZC will install one without too big of a fight, if not I might just try to do it myself. As for the bigger bullets, I generally only shoot FMJ/TMJ/JHP style bullets, I'd really hate to stock a special bullet for one gun.  I don't really like lead, nor should I need to use them to make the gun shoot straight.

All of my Cz's prefer a heavy bullet - 135 to 147 gr.  If a 10X bushing didn't help I would inspect the crown.  A couple of mine were not that that bad, but after recrowning the barrel it will shoot sub 2" groups at 25 yards.

You know, you could let someone, such as myself, adopt this red headed stepchild and get yourself a new one. ;)

Uh, No

Like I said I really like the gun, I just need it to shoot. Waiting on CZC to get back to me.  I had a 9mm Dan Wesson Specialist that was the same way, They said there was no way it was shooting that bad, an hour after they received it they called to apologize and replaced the entire top end, it shot great after that.

😯

I found out the same about mine. I bought it used, now I'm starting to think the seller found out that. How do I check for any issue? Can 10X Bushing solve it?

It did absolutely nothing in mine, others have had good results though.

I used my shadow 2 and shadow1 both at the same time and I noticed the result couldn't be comparable at all. I even paid more attention when using the sp01

The 10x will only make a noticeable difference if your bushing is worn or if the barrel fit is loose. I have installed several and only seen one case where the difference was noticeable and that was on an IPSC Standard slide that we had fitted to an SP01 frame.

my suggestion is to show this gun to local gunsmith that experienced  with cz guns

if u can post pic. of  barrel  lower lug( where the slide stop going thru ) from side it will be much better to see why it has such  play in full lockup .

It should be under warranty, waiting on a response from CZC

Does the Hammer fall free? Mine had a badly adjusted triggerstop that caused the hammer to hit the sear when falling. That causes some movement to the gun.

It even damaged the hammer, so one day it started doubling.

Hold the hammer back, pull the trigger and hold it back. Watch if the hammer touches the sear when the hammer moves forward.
