dapribek
Hi, my go to gunsmith is too busy to do a trigger job on my new Ruger. It already has the Volquartsen Accurizing Kit and Tandemkross Trigger installed. The trigger pull weighs in at a little over 4 pounds and I’m looking for a reputable gunsmith to lower it to between 2.5 and 3 pounds and remove some of the pretravel. Any recommendations? Thanks. louu
You put the $140 Volquartsen trigger kit in there and it's over 4 pounds?
dapribek
A local gunsmith did.
AzShooter
Send it back to that "gunsmith". I did my own upgrade with the Volquartsen Accurizing Kit and my trigger pull went from 5 3/4 pounds down to just under 2. Takes about an hour after you watch the YouTube video to do it yourself. You got ripped off.
dapribek
Yes perhaps I did. I would rather find a better gunsmith than take a chance that he’d screw this up even more!
louu
Man that's a shame bud. I'm pretty sure Volquartsen installs these, you just have to ship it to them. Call them and see what they can do for you. First you should deal with that so called gunsmith.

You got ripped off. Unfortunately AZ is correct. I've used numerous Volquartsen kits and they've all resulted in triggers around 2 lbs. Find another "gunsmith" or a fellow shooter who's mechanically inclined. Check out these videos just to get some general knowledge of the process. It's not rocket science. https://volquartsen.com/howto/install_mk4_accurizing_kit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YB9EmYwDyzg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMQlJCNEGso

louu
I just put this kit in my mark 4 lite myself using the YouTube video and instructions above and it's awesome. I don't have a scale but it's definitely way less than half of stock. I'll have access to a scale in a couple weeks so I'll let you know the real weight. Put about 100 rounds through it last night and it ran great.

gerritm
I know it is not exactly the same, but I installed the Tandemkross Victory Trigger only in my Mark IV lite and went from a lot of initial creep to none and from over 4# as measured to about 2.5# for $49. Love that upgrade. So if a gunsmith put a whole trigger kit in it should really have improved. https://www.tandemkross.com/Victory-Trigger-Ruger®-MKIII™-MKIV™-2245™_p_197.html gerritm

dapribek
Yes, the second gunsmith brought the trigger down to just over a very smooth 3 lbs. I can certainly live with that! So a happy ending!

Best $$ you can spend on a mk 3 or 4!! Also on 3’s their bushing to get rid of mag safety and that’s only $10!!! H
