Sending a cerakoted pistol off for black nitride treatment

Hello all.

 

I won a cert at a match for a nitride treatment.  The 2011 that I have currently has a cerakote finish.  Should I be concerned about the surface of the frame and slide? 

 

I assume they will blast with aluminum oxide to strip the cerakote, and then bead blast to smooth the surface prior to nitriding.

 

Is this an accurate assumption?  I spoke to one of their representatives on the phone, and he gave me the impression that it was no big deal.  Anyone have any experience with similar circumstances with H&M and an already finished pistol being sent in to refinish?

I have dealt with H&M  they do great work . I would not worry .

I've sent a half dozen or so in various forms of finish and they've always come back looking good.  I'm waiting on one to come back now.

I have never done this on a 2011 slide but have done it on several other slides and have never had any issue. Black nitride far superior IMO. I think you will be happy with the results.

H&M do great work.  Been using them for quite a while and never had a problem.  Extremely fast turn-around too.  But I thought you had to prep before sending.  At least that's what I've always done.  Might want to check on that to be sure.
