texasdawg
I have two open guns with a grip, frame, and slide as seperate pieces. I have seen that there is a 2011 size frame and grip combo(caspian or remington?) all in one and was wondering why we dont build guns that way any more? I am thinking of building another gun and was thinking why not try a frame like that? I run heavy and long open guns so I dont think heavy would be a problem, plus was thinking of making it short barreled(4.5") and a ti comp,,, what's the negatives or downfalls,,,
zzt
It is a 1911 size frame that takes special double stack mags. Mags have always been a problem with the Caspian Hicap. The only ones now that supposedly work are the MBX mags. The negative is all cast lower parts, usually poorly done. Also a lot of the rest of the parts are specific to that frame/receiver. I tried one once. The receiver kit I got was so horribly cast I sent it back. I went with 2011s and am happy. I have a choice of a bazillion different parts.
