phil plesetz
It appears that the plunger may have a bunch of pressure on it. is there a way to lessen the pressure on it? Thanks,
Steve RA
Take one coil at a time off the spring until it feels the way you want it.
phil plesetz
Does the plunger come out either end of the tube? Sorry, i never had this area apart. Hence the questions. Thanks,

The plunger spring should have a bend in it to minimize the launching of the plungers and spring.
Steve RA
Yes, as above, remove the safety and you can get to the spring - both plungers and spring should come out easily.
ncrivello
Have a similar issue, my springfield RO thumb safety will select off without issue but is stiff when engaging it. Functions fine, but is annoying. Couldn't tell if it's the plunger interface or an internal fitting issue. Suppose I could take the plunger/spring out and see what the safety feels like? Jfitz427
I had this same problem. Clipping coils doesn’t really work because then the plunger tube will no longer be attached to the sprIng. I tried it. It’ll just kinda float and can bind up if it’s not attached. I also tried putting like a radius/relief cut on the plunger where it contacts the safety. Clipping coils helped a lot more then this did. But overall the fix was a new softer spring. I wish I could tell you which brand is softer, but my gunsmith did this for me. You could probably find a reduced power sprIng or something if you searched google.
Sarge
I just took 1500 grit paper to the tip of the plunger to polish it and remove imperfections. Mine was stiff after hard chroming. It doesn’t take much
troupe
As mentioned, polish the plunger and the safety before cutting coils
Corrado_kid
How big is the detent in the saftey? Mines stuff but has a huge detent, but once it clears that it slides freely.
