Shooter212
I just picked a brazos tuned edge the saftey comes off almost to easy. It’s noticeably easier then my other 1911s and my rock island double stack it’s replacing. This is for three gun and I don’t want it coming off during a dump. I am wondering if I should file on A or B for a more positive engagement. The picture doesn’t show but B does stop the saftey by hitting the slide. kk4364
Do you shoot without riding safety with thumb? Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Shooter212
I ride the safteys the whole time.
ltdmstr
Why is there a big gap between the top of the safety and the cut in the slide? Is the safety not going all way up? It appears to not be fit properly.
practical_man
Assuming that the safety is fit properly and works as intended. Have you considered the simple option of a dimple in the safety so the detent has better engagement? Or a stronger detent spring? Could the detent spring be broken or the plunger too short? If you remove material at B in your diagram it will likely change engagement with the sear leg, requiring some adjustment there as well. ltdmstr
If the safety is fully engaged, then that space would indicate that either the slide's not cut properly or the barrel isn't fit right. TimBoettcher
The safety is not fit correctly. It needs more material removed on the pad stop. Tim
ltdmstr
Look at where the plunger contacts the body of the safety in your photo compared to where it is in the photos I posted. The safety should be going all the way up into that cut in the slide so the plunger is below the corner on the safety. As Tim stated, you probably need to remove material from the internal portion that contacts the sear to bring it up. If somehow the safety is fit properly, which is not likely, but anything is possible with STI parts, then you have other issues. But 99% chance it's the safety. Shooter212
The picture was bad it goes all the way up and sits in the slide like it should. It looks like it should go higher though for the plunger.
ltdmstr
Much better. I would move the corner at A (in the original photo) up a bit higher. That should do the trick. Go slow, take off a little at a time and keep checking until it's where you want it.
