JeffCSR
Following the old Burwell trigger job, how do factory sears hold up as far as re profiling where they engage the striker? Are they of equal hardness throughout or case hardened to a particular depth? This is a 9mm Pro series BTW I ask here because you guys would be the ones who shoot the most
Bench
Approaching 1K rounds after completing the Burwell job and no issues at all. That being said I was careful to polish the sear and not remove 'heavy' amounts of metal prior to polishing since the measurements described were kind of vague... SteelCityShooter
Case hardening was used back in the days when high strength steel alloys that could be effectively heat treated were not available and surface (case) hardening was the best available technique. Now much better steels that can be through hardened are used and true case hardening is only done for appearance.
