MisterPlink
Is there any disadvantage using a railed 1911 in Single Stack or IPSC Classic? In my neck of the woods, there seems to be a plethora of railed 1911s...
mattmann
I couldn’t understand there being one. Only reason to have one in my opinion is for lights for night matches or lights for edc.....Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
RangerTrace
I like to have rails on my 1911s so they can 2nd as a nightstand gun if needed. On single stacks they add some weight as well.
jcc7x7
Weight limit especially in a 9mm Holsters can be hard to find that are good for uspsa
JayDee
I used to have an STI Duty One. It was heavy and had a half rail. Had to go to GI guide rod, plastic grips and mags with plastic bases to barely make weight. Bladetech evolution holster worked well for it. The rail does add some weight which some say improves recoil management. I didn't notice it much with 167PF loads.
Edge40
My understanding is weight is the biggest issue and I don't see any advantage to having the rail. Not going to put weights or lights on it if it is just for competition. Edited February 13, 2019 by Edge40 mis spoke

RePete
There are people that need a rail for their work. Personally I think they are fugly and detract for the iconic gun.
Salsantini
I have most of my 1911's without the rail. I don't think I fee any real difference.
Steve RA
I think the rails are ugly, can see the use for one in a few cases, but I would not have one personally
rojo1911
Put a light on it and tell the RO you need it to see the targets better... lol

Steve RA
Very nice, however looks like it's at the end of the trail.

Steve RA
Interesting video, however it says max range of 30 miles.
yigal
yes ~30 miles for 1940 it's good range in 1992 Sadam H.army used new rail gun (in pic.) designed by Gerald Bull with 500-600 miles range. that was destroyed by US army after first shot.
