Halo09
Hey shooters! I have a quick question for the PRS Group...besides some of the cool new flasher technology that is coming out, what are some ideas for some new target ideas or new hanger ideas that you have? Trying to help a local PRS Match come up with some new creative ideas. Thanks!
Delfuego
Don't get creative!!!! A common mistake for new match directors is to reinvent the wheel. they come up with stages that don't work, hokey BS and poor target sizing for distances. I would stick to what works and what has been developed over time. After you have shot and held matches for a while you will know what works and what hasn't. Meanwhile: Close targets should be on T-Posts or hook style hangers. They get hammered so no straps or chains. It will also keep them from swinging too much . 3/8" to 1/2" AR500. Reactive springers are fun at these ranges too. Mid ranges are easier. 3/8" AR500 any configuration usually works Far targets (800y-1400y) 1/4" AR500 is sometimes better. It will ring and move more. KYL/TYL is always fun Spinners! Hostage racks Stay away from gimmicky BS. Simple barricades (PRS barricade/Barrels/Picnic bench/rocks/stumps/Etc). Don't do any giggle beds or bouncy castle s#!t. Don't make people shoot through tubes or conduit, it's bad for your ears and can be dangerous moving rifles in and out. No shooting of a rope or chains. No playing cards or rolling dice games. This sport is getting ridiculous. To many Special Olympics stages, too many dumb things that don't work or are flat-out dangerous. Keep it simple keep it fun. New shooter need to hit targets, if they don't, they will not come back. The best guys will always be the best guys. They are working on a redesign of their t-post hangers that will have a longer mounting “finger” for the target. They were having some of targets rock off the standard one when being engaged with larger calibers.
NOMADSS
A lot of great Free printable targets located here. I use a lot of these for practice and precision type drills at matches. http://www.impactdatabooks.com/Target_Downloads_s/78.htm
