Not sure im overly impressed if the 1100 is basically the same as the 1050. All the parts are compatible. The priming system still doesnt look the best and the priming spring thing can be put on my 1050.

All they did is change the name?

Hello: From the pics it looks like the RL1100 has the large bearing on the crank just like my RL1050 does. That will make it smoother than the Super 1050. That may also be why you can't load 30-06 on it like the old RL1050's. Good to see that they have gone back to the large bearing again. Thanks, Eric

I feel so “modern” with my RL1050...

I have the Super 1050, can the large bearing be upgraded or is it a design issue?

Hello: You need about 6 parts if I can remember correctly. It was very expensive at the time I checked even with me sourcing the big bearing. I just ended up selling my Super 1050 and buying another RL1050. I have had 5 RL1050's over the years that found good homes and are still running. Great machines and a great company to deal with. Thanks, Eric

This is correct and the guys at the Dillon booth confirmed.  Thats why a lot of people prefer the older machines to the supers.

As others have said, the 1100 just goes back to the shorter stroke /higher leverage greasable, needle bearing style crank that the older RLs had.

I have both, and I actually kind of prefer the older style.

Other than that, the little spring retainer on the primer station looks to be the only meaningful change.

It’s a little beefier too. They changed the indexing lever angle so the indexing movement is not as violent and now there is an adjustment screw for the primer bar travel. This is what I picked up after talking with some of the Dillon guys about the RL 1100.

The Super 1050 cannot be retro fitted with the RL 1100 crank, that’s what took up room so .308 is the largest that will fit the RL 1100.

Then take advantage of the return policy.

I doubt they’ll do that. But may try it for the hell of it. By the time it’s out it’ll be past the 30 or 60 day trial period or what ever it is.

You can load .30-06 on the 1050. Seems strange that the RL1100 doesn't do .30-06 but is phasing out the 1050.

The Dillon Rep actually asked me if I'd had my Super 1050 for longer than 30 days.  He said "if you haven't, you can send it back."  I bought mine last September.

I don't believe the Super 1050 is going anywhere.  They had one right there with the rest of the stuff.  It wasn't front and center, but it was easy to get to, and check out just like the 650 and 550.

It looks like they are using a copy (?) of the Level 10 toolhead spring and bushing.

As for the  primer station retaining tab. I used a 1/8" cable tie and a safety pin.  Works better than the plastic piece.

Another thing that I did just after I got my 1050 (2006) was to get rid of the factory ejector tab and replace it with one that I made.  38Special would tip over the tab or jamb under it.
