Glock17open
While cleaning my gun I came up with a question. Today I polished the feed ramp, which I do every other cleaning. My question is do any of you polish the outside surface of the barrel and the guide rod. I didn't do this, but I wanted to put the question/ idea on the forum to see if it is a good or bad idea. Posvar
Neither. Cleaning on open gun is no different than any 2011. Just clean and lube.
theWacoKid
I do sometimes, but I built the gun so I know what I'm looking for.
Glock17open
Thanks, so it's not a bad idea but regular cleaning process is fine.
zzt
Everything that needs to be polished should already be.. Just clean and lube.
36873687
It can’t hurt. I polish trigger bow Chanel every time I pull the grip. Say no need but it’s my thing an in my mind it helps. Rolls with it

lee blackman
So polishing systematically removes very small amounts of material by using a micro abrasive compound. If the surface is already smooth, why not just clean it? Why would you keep polishing it?

As the gun runs the sliding parts can develop scratches and burrs, especially if tight or run a bunch while dirty. If it stays smooth and slick you don't need to touch it. NinerRider
Polishing can't hurt, I am a fan of making everything as smooth as possible. That said do it once and just clean as needed.
bigboy69
I have done it in the past, but not all the time.
Malcolm31
Just clean and lube like all the rest of the blasters.
TimBoettcher
Ammunition hitting the feed ramp will eventually pit it up so polishing will not hurt it what so ever.. I do mine every few thousand rounds or so. Tim
