galt11
Can anyone point me in the direction of a company that does coatings on small orders, without a big surcharge? I need a couple small parts approx. the size of an AR rear sling swivel, finished as they are getting a coating of rust currently. Thanks
drewbeck
What type of coating?
galt11
At this point I would try just about anything. I liked the ionbond I had a bunch of mags done, but it would depend upon pricing and qualities of the coating.
drewbeck
If they’re steel, try cold blueing and oil or parkerizing yourself then you can touch them up whenever needed
galt11
I did try exactly that and no matter what I did, the rust came back. The last time I sanded the outside, cleaned it before hand, handled with gloves so no oil, heated it, and brushed on the coating. Within a short time, the rust came back. drewbeck
Clear coat with a spray lacquer, or keep it well oiled. what part is it?
galt11
The main part is an AR rear sling swivel.
jwhittin
I also like the Ionbond. Call Chad at Club Custom Guns. They offer Ionbond services. He may be able to add your parts to another order if you are not in a hurry. Good Luck. CLUB Custom Guns 2725 Denton Rd. ChillyB
Did you try for real parkerizing? For small parts Ive had good luck with a coffee cup in microwave. Thats an excellent base for subsequent painting such as Duracoat.
