Which end of the shroud is threaded? The gas block end or the muzzle end? I was hoping that you could cut the shroud and still use it with the comp but it didn’t look that way from pics I saw. My vr is still sitting at the shop since they don’t do transfers on the weekend. Ugh!
It's threaded back at the handguard so you would just trim it back to expose the threads of the barrel

Until I figured out the thread and how to cut it, I was going to do the same thing.  I didn't want to since there does not seem to be a factory replacement available.

Im wondering why ... The thread are out there under the shroud. I wonder if it's because of the handguard nut. If you cut a shroud down it should be fine

Yeah maybe I’ll just let it show up and see what can be done with it.

Took my brand new VR80 to the range this morning and used Remington game Load (1 oz, 1290 FPS) for breaking in.  Took about 80 rounds for the gun to eject and cycle reliably.  Had to significantly lower the front sight post for the gun to shoot point of aim at 50 yards using slug.  The factory MOD choke throws a tighter pattern than the MOD choke from my Beretta 1301 Comp at 25 yards.  The big surprise was that I could not mount my Aimpoint Pro with Scalar Leap mount because the rail on the gun is too wide.

I tried herter’s 1oz 1060fps and they will not cycle the VR-80.  I really wish they would work because they are super soft. Even with the Taccom buffer and a cut carbine spring, they are a no-go.  Maybe if you drilled out the gas ports.

Also anyone tried the ultra low recoil 900 fps shot shells?

I was unaware the RIA were aluminum
That's why they use that steel adapter ... Continued removal of alum comp from steel barrel will wear threads over time leading to potential baffle strikes

I was damn sure it was locked in too. Notice how it didn't happen again ...

It's a ported barrel
