funkymonkey1111
Looking for scope mounts for mounting a Vortex Razor 1-6 on an AR. Two from vortex seem like contenders: http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-precision-extended-cantilever-mount-qr-riflescope http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-pro-cantilever-riflescope-ring-mount-1 I know the first model is quick release, which I don't really need. Wondering, as it frankly looks beefier (8.7 oz) is there any merit to the "precision" model for general three-gun shooting? That being said, at what point are scope mounts essentially interchangeable? I'm not talking about an inferior quality, crappy product, but is there ANY true advantage between top level manufacturers like Warne, Vortex, LaRue, Aero Precision---whoever? EaZeNuTZ33
Vortex outsources those mounts to trusted companies known to make great products. Buy either with confidence! The pro model (non-QD) is made by Warne The QD version looks like it’s made by ADM.
funkymonkey1111
thanks for the info--follow up-- Vortex suggested this one-- http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-precision-extended-cantilever-mount-30mm-riflescope when would you use a 20 MOA cant model versus one that doesn't feature a 20 MOA cant? EaZeNuTZ33
Built in 20moa isn’t that important with a 1-6 optic. Either would work fine.

Either would work fine. you can get it with or without the 20 MOA cant. it's really just the ultimate conundrum. don't want to spend more than I have to, but don't want to skimp at the expense of performance. just chatted with vortex online and they said either the precision or the pro would work just fine--just that that precision is built to slightly better tolerances
Southpaw
You don't have to use a Vortex mount with a Vortex scope. As said above the Vortex mounts aren't actually made by Vortex, just have their name on them. If you want an ADM mount you can get one cheaper than the Vortex branded one. If you want a lightweight mount look at Aero and if you want QD the LaRue LT204 is on sale through Christmas for $138.96, https://www.larue.com/products/lt204/
pjb45
I had two Warne mounts. Nice mounts. I went with a LaRue because I needed some extra distance between the rear of the scope and my eyes when going prone or bent over sitting. Not all mounts are the same. The Dilla rub was worth the price of the scope:
