hondakilla98
I found this for sale and I'm wondering if you guys can give me some info. Is it small frame or large frame? early competition frame? Will later slides and parts still fit this frame? kneelingatlas
That's a very strange frankenpistol; the slide is a small frame, standard length with a 4.5" barrel, it has a taper, so it originally came from a short dust cover frame, but the frame is unlike any Witness I've ever seen, the beaver tail looks like a Jericho (manufactured by Tanfoglio so that make sense) and the grip screw is low like a Jericho, but the shape of the back strap isn't quite right, not Jericho, nor Witness. There's no provision for a magwell which makes the checkering unusual, the hammer is on a roll pin (Witness competition frames have a solid pin), and the frame looks to have been cut back a quarter inch. The four hole pattern of the optic holes are for newer mounts, maybe drilled recently. New small frame parts should work, but it would have to be real cheap for me to pick it up. GrumpyOne
Easy way to find out if it's a large or small frame. Try a cz75 mag in it. If it locks in tight and doesn't rattle, it's a small frame.
johnbu
I saw that on GB. no idea if it's a Frankengun or early competition model. The grip is "odd" for sure.
CompleteJack
While we're at it, this gun has me completely baffled. Any ideas?
CompleteJack
It's definitely small frame, and very old.
hondakilla98
Thanks for the info, it's a definite pass for me. It's listed for $529 as a 1911 witness on gunbroker. I'm in the market for a second large frame Tanfo, but with a competition frame this time.

Nothing unusual, it looks like an early '90s competition frame, they used to sell them as bare frames. The hole pattern is definitely "custom". I actually don't know, but in EAA fashion, it would no doubt cost only slightly less than a full gun.
bluesky
Look like my small frame sport long model from 90s.
CompleteJack
I have another one for you wizards, I just bought this recently and I don't even know what to call it other than a witness. It's an old Large Frame, that much is clear. I'm scared to even ask if anyone makes a holster for this anymore, but I think it'll fit the same grips as the old Witness Match. CompleteJack
I think it'll make a fun Tacops/Limited gun, and maybe a suppressor host if I can find a threaded barrel for it.
