RTS2 Glass!!

Recommended Posts

I can’t find the thread about folks having problems keeping RTS2 optic glass clean....my last experience.

I read all the suggestions about blowback on the front glass. Even called C-more and a very helpful young man suggested Hoppes solvent on a Qtip.

To no avail , tried Windex, my Zeiss cleaning pads...nothing worked.

This afternoon I tried some Fine Glass Polish from Griots Garage I used for show cars.....BAM !!.....took every trace of distortion off the glass.

I used fine Q tips and removed all the polish...then put 2 coats of old fashioned Glass Wax on both sides. This glass is a good as new.

I thought I would pass this solution on...was getting a little frustrating.....Thanks.

  blowback on the front glass

I had the same problem with my TruBor for years,

until I switched to Brian's Slide-Glide.

NOW, no more "blowback on the front glass"    :)

Clean from what?  Carbon fouling from a nearby comp, or just clean from... life?

I use a Nikon lens pen that I bought for cheap on Amazon and can't complain.

I just use glass wipes that I got at Costco. They work fine and no issue.

Most of the time I just use glass wipes, but every once in a while I go through and use vinegar and q-tips to thoroughly clean the lens.

Where can I find the glass wipes at Costco? I assume the optometry/glasses area towards the front?

A little CLR in distilled water in a small spray bottle cleans every bit of carbon off of the glass.

Q Tip or lens cloth works.

Found the glass wipes at Costco in the medicine area. 9 bucks for three big boxes. Works great on glass and shooting lenses.

I am pretty much like the rest.  I use the same glass cleaner and wipes I use for my reading glasses.

+1 for CLR been using for years. Rain x after cleaning seems to make it easier to wipe clean during a match with a micro fiber towel also.

Vinegar and a q-tip or the zeiss wipes what ever I can find at the time.

WD40 works well but make sure you wipe off any residue with a proper cloth.
