Taccom ULW 9MM Muzzle Brake Pin & Welded

Can I pin and weld a Taccom ULW 9mm Short Muzzle Brake on a 14.5" barrel and be legal?

 

The short brake is 1.625” + 14.5" = 16.125" ?

 

On Taccom website it just says the longer brake will make it legal.

Anything that is pinned/welded to a barrel that makes the barrel 16 inches is legal.  I weld up solid rounds to tubes to make linear comps in order to be legal.

As long as you can drop. Dowel down the barrel with gun in battery, rest it on the breechface, and measure it at 16.00”+ then it’s legal.

 

My gun was cut at right around 14-3/8” and it measures 16.250” with the pinned Surefire comp, per the ATF’s testing method. Just to be safe.

 

Check your length with comp installed before drilling it, and exchange it for the long comp if you need extra length.

1/2" of that brake is probably the female threads length.

 

So....

 1.125” + 14.5" =  15.625.

The two will have some overlap at the threads

The light weight MBX barrel is already done for you. I looked into getting a barrel and comp seperately and having it done local but it ended up being cheaper to just buy the MBX unit. 300 for a 17oz barrel with comp is actually a pretty good deal once you do the math.
