Red dot (Viper) glare

Getting bad glare in my Vortex Viper red dot on my CO pistol. This is my second VRD-6 never noticed any glare with the first.

 

It happens the morning when the sun is low shooting in its direction, turns the whole window pink and red, and washes out the dot completely when really bad. It seems most of it is caused by light hitting the emitter and reflecting to the lense. Anyone else experience this? Figured out a solution?

 

A little black tape over the emitter, essentially making the cavity deeper, helped some, but I don't think completely.

Same happened to a guy I shoot with often.  HE said the whole window was just "red colored"!

Don't know an answer my venom has not done that BUT

I've switched to SIG Romeo 1 6moa, the 3 moa washed out, the 6 never does.

Good thing about your Viper is Vortex will fix or replace it. I have not had that problem with my viper yet. I agree with jcc7x7 the Romeo 1 6moa is much better than the 3moa that I had

Indeed, I warranted the first one for another issue, painless as can be.

Not sure the glare is a defect, guess I could reach out and see what they say.

 

I'm going to have to put together a backup CO gun one of these days.
