Jfitz427
I like the 77g nosler custom comps. I get them for like 14 bucks per hundred, and they shoot as well as the SMK. Behind either some varget, or ramshot Tac. Thd 75g Hornady is a solid choice too, it’s not as long as the amax, it’s shorter then the 77gs too. Many people report good success with the 75g in a 1:9 when the 77gs don’t shoot well. 69g will also work well. The best group my mk12 ever shot was with 25g varget and the 69g smk. But out to 500 I’d go with the 75-77. Like others said, drop is predictable, wind is not, and it’s hard to read on the fly.
JatCarver
I agree about the heavy bullets hitting harder makes it worth it just for that. Like the other guy said, nothing worse than seeing your hits but the RO not calling them!
RiggerJJ
Heavy is good, but if you know your ballistics you can deal with the wind with any bullet. Personally I wouldn't go with anything heavier than 69gn unless it's in a prs type match. 75gn and above take a higher twist barrel and they can be very expensive. And the difference between a 69 and a 75 is only 2 inches at 500 yards in a 10mph wind, and 69s are fairly cheap compared to 75s...
