Reloading for +p rated 9mm pistol

Has anyone out there in Enos land loaded to +p specs for 9mm pistol/124gr? I'm looking to find velocity/pressure/ or PF that will give me a hint as to loads using CFE Pistol or Titegroup. Some research that 'references' SAMMI specs indicates  +p is 10% over standard 9mm pressure. Can anyone concur? Thanks.

Usually the higher pressure loads (9 major) are loaded with slower burning pistol propellant.  Loading to higher pressures with something fast, like titegroup, sounds like a more likely scenario for blowing something up.  No disrespect intended, I suspect you are referring to propellants you have on hand.  Soft shooting loads are fast powder and heavy bullet for the games (excluding open pistols).  Magnum loads, for lack of a better term, use slow burning propellant in my estimation.

Perhaps this is not what you are looking for?  I do know in my manuals that show +P pressure loads, in something like 9mm and 38, Power Pistol is a frequent choice.

What are you trying to accomplish?

I doubt many Open IPSC or USPSA shooters know how much over spec their 9mm pressures are....

Attempting to over come feeding issues in a +p pistol with a 16# recoil spring...without over pressures(!)

Thanks for your point regarding slower powders...and yes you are correct...I was referring to what I have on hand.

Yep. If you want higher velocities, use slower burning powders. Check powder manufacturers' data.

Thanks for the confirmation on slower powders.

c.  5.5 - 6.0 gr WAC should get you to 1250 fps, but I'd try to

load the bullet as long as you can in your barrel, with that one

particular bullet.

Of course, you'd want to start low (5 gr) and work up slowly

with a chrono.    :)

Thanks. Looks like I'll be after some different powder than what is on hand.
