wdfwguy
I generally use Hoppes #9, spray out with brake cleaner, then lube. Do I need to do anything special to protect my optic (DPP) when I'm cleaning?
George16
Keep brake cleaner off of your optic. Get some Saran plastic wrap and wrap it to prevent the brake cleaner from coming into contact with it.
jpm2953
I just use brake cleaner to spray out my frame. Usually don’t spray it on the slide. But not sure Saran Wrap would stand up against brake clean?
pskys2
Should be able to remove the DPP for cleaning if needed. Mine goes off and on with no change in sighting on either a G34 mos or G34 w/adapter.
MemphisMechanic
Spray a rag. Scrub with the rag. Don’t spray the slide directly. Easy to keep it off of fiber optic front light pipes and red dot optics that way. Edited August 23, 2018 by MemphisMechanic
hjweiss
Your Leupold DPP came with a tight fitting rubber protective cover. Use it when cleaning.
Beef15
I wipe mine down with some solvent on a rag. If there's heavy carbon I scrub with a brush, most everything is suspended in oil/grease and comes right off with less mess than aerosol. I for sure don't want strong solvents on seals, glues, and coatings of my optic.

If you dont have the protective cover, use nitrile rubber glove.
wdfwguy
I just wasn't sure about taking it on and off, if it would return to zero. But I'll put the rubber cover on and wrap that with painters tape or something similar.
